《中国语言资源调查手册•汉语方言》是国家项目“三方工程中国语言资源有声数据库技术规范与平台研发”中的“有声数据库技术规范研究”课题的内容之一，是“中国语言文化典藏”丛书编写的方言材料调查时使用的基础手册，全书有统一的语音、词汇、语音法调查基础模本，便于比较。 本书平装本出版以来，在实际使用过程中，方言文化田野调查的师生们反馈了不少意见；在商务印书馆出版《中国语言文化典藏》《中国濒危语言志》的过程中，编辑部也提出了修改建议。为了更好推动《中国语言文化典藏》等的出版工作，本次修订出版《调查手册》，出版硬皮精装版本，以便于田调记录等工作，也更为完整地呈现“语保”工程的重要成果。
